counselling with mirth
therapy, writing, and community
mirth /mərTH/ noun
laughter, humour, or happiness:
“Her days were full of mirth.”
Welcome! My name is Patricia Mirth (she/her) and I’m a Filipina counsellor, poet, and educator living in Port Alberni, BC, the unceded traditional territories of the Hupačasath and Tseshaht First Nations.
Counselling with mirth creates space to be seen and supported as your full self, in all hardships and joys. Healing is not only tending to the parts that ache but also about expanding our capacity for connection, laughter, and mirth.
I offer individual counselling, meditation sessions, therapeutic writing groups and educational workshops. Currently online and coming soon in person to the Port Alberni Valley.
Clinical Counselling
-
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia (RCC#23189), I offer individual clinical counselling (50, 75 or 90 minutes) that is unique to your goals, history, and preferences. As an anti-oppressive counsellor, our sessions can look like a mix of talk therapy, psychoeducation, somatic processing, and/or writing inventions.
-
*Currently all offerings are virtual with limited in-person spaces coming soon to Port Alberni.
For virtual sessions to maximize your time, it is important to
join from a quiet, private space. It is crucial that you feel like you can talk freely.
Bring a pen & paper/something to write on. We may do writing together, + it’s a great practice to take your own notes during the session!
Have your grounding tools: blankets, fidgets, water/tea, and snacks.
If possible, use headphones so you can hear me best/I can hear you.
-
A creative and reflective supplement to your therapy practice, offering space for continued growth between sessions.
Each Mirth Note blends reflective therapeutic support with intuitive guidance based on your specific need, issue, or curiosity. This is an email-based therapeutic offering.
I craft reflection prompts, a meditative practice and tarot draw designed to support your healing journey — whether you’re exploring your inner world, navigating a creative block, or deepening work begun in therapy.Includes:
A one-card tarot reflection (I’ll often send pictures of the pull for imagery/visual grounding)
Personalized therapeutic writing prompts
A meditative script and/or grounding practice
Delivered via email within 1-3 days
Sliding scale $40-60
**for this offering please email me info@counsellingwithmirth.ca with the request “Mirth Note” and a short description of your intention/issue.
-
As a meditation teacher (200-hour meditation teacher training by the Lab of Meditation), I offer personalized visualization and meditation sessions. Each session is about 30 minutes. I create a unique meditation centred around your present issue or theme and lead you through a meditative practice. Scripts are gifted for personal use after session.
-

Groups & Workshops
-
As a workshop facilitator, I offer therapeutic writing groups for community members to learn, write, and connect. Groups can range in topics based on my Master’s thesis on poetry therapy, collective healing and anti-oppressive practices. Therapeutic writing groups provide a unique way to cope, heal, and find community.
-
**Online therapeutic writing group to be announced soon! If you are interested or have any questions, feel free to contact me at info@counsellingwithmirth.ca
Groups are typically always virtual with occasional pop-ups in the Port Alberni Valley and Vancouver.
